Create an Announcement

The 1Breadcrumb Announcements tool gives you the power to deliver information directly to the right audience.

Whether you're aiming to share toolbox talks, presentations, or company policies, 1Breadcrumb equips you with the ability to send out as many Announcements as you need, using your preferred format. Be it a video, audio, image, PDF, PowerPoint, or just plain text, 1Breadcrumb ensures your vital messages are conveyed effectively.

Company and Site Hosts, will be able to monitor the reception of their content. You'll know exactly who has engaged with the announcements you've dispatched, adding an extra layer of insight and accountability.

Mobile App Steps 📱

Through the 1Breadcrumb Mobile App, the Announcement tool provides Site Hosts with the capability to create numerous Announcements for the purpose of distributing information to their own sites as needed.

  1. Open the 1Breadcrumb app on your device.
  2. Tap on ‘Host’  in the Profile/Host panel located on the bottom of the screen.

  3. Ensure that you are in the correct site by checking the panel at the top of your screen or switch between sites by tapping "Change Site" then use the dropdown box in the pop-up window to locate and select your site. Upon selecting your site, tap "Ok".

  4. Once in your site, tap the "Site Announcement" tile.

  5. A list of previously created Announcements for this site will appear. Download an existing Announcement by tapping the download icon or delete by tapping the 'X' icon.

  6. To create a new announcement, tap '+ Add New Announcement'.

  7. Fill in the following details:

    1. Title: Enter the subject of the announcement. Provide a clear and descriptive title for the announcement. This clarity will be valuable for future reference if you need to review the list of acknowledged Announcements.
    2. Group Name: Choose or create a category (e.g., toolbox talk, policy). Establish a grouping name for the announcement will be beneficial in the future when you wish to filter and access the list of acknowledged Announcements.
    3. Display Time: Select when recipients will see the announcement by choosing from:
      1. While Checked In: Recipients can view the announcement from their 1Breadcrumb profile after checking into the site.
      2. Check In Page: Recipients will be able to view the announcement as a part of completing the check-in process.
      3. Both: Recipients will be able to view the announcement as a part of completing the check-in process and will also be able to view the announcement from their 1Breadcrumb profile after checking into the site.
    4. Announcement Mode: Choose how recipients are alerted of the announcement. Note, this will only be applicable to those who have their 1Bredcrumb notifications turned on.
      1. Silent: No pop-up notification.
      2. NotifyAlways: Pop-up notification of the announcement is sent whenever recipients open their 1Breadcrumb app.
      3. NotifyOnce: A one-off 1Breadcrumb pop-up notification of the announcement is sent upon the first time the announcement goes live.
    5. Force View Mode: Determine whether recipients are required to view and/or acknowledge the announcement by selecting from the following options:
      1. Disable: Recipients can choose to open and view the announcement at their own discretion.
      2. Mandatory View: Recipients are obligated to open and view the announcement.
      3. Mandatory View and Sign Off: Recipients must open, view, and acknowledge the announcement.
      4. Set Play Through To Mandatory: When uploading video media, recipients are unable to fast forward or skip the video.
    6. Announcement Type:
      1. PDF File - Upload a PDF format to communicate your announcement.
      2. Video - Upload a video for recipients to watch.
      3. Text - Create your own announcement by typing your desired information.
      4. Audio -  Upload a voice recording for recipients to listen to.
      5. YouTube - Copy and paste the URL or link of a YouTube video for recipients to follow and watch.
      6. Image - Upload or take a photograph using your device.
      7. External Link - Copy and paste a external domain link point from one domain  for recipients to follow.
    7. Display Mode: Decide using the ‘Display Mode’ dropdown list if you want the announcement to be available to recipients prior to checking into site by selecting from the following options:
      1. Anytime: Recipients will be able to receive the announcement both before they have completed the induction material for site and when they’re an approved inductee.
      2. Check-in: Recipients will be able to receive the announcement only when they have completed the induction material.
      3. PreCheckIn: Recipients will be able to receive the announcement before they have completed the induction material.
    8. Active Date Range: Set how long the announcement is visible for the recipients:
      1. Valid Forever: The announcement will remain permanently active.
      2. Time Limited: Use the calendar to define the duration. After the "Valid To" date, the announcement will no longer be accessible to future check-ins. This is useful for communicating information applicable only to a certain time period, like delivering a Toolbox Talk to all relevant personnel involved in a weekend crane lift, for instance.
    9. Specify the audience:
      1. Set to specific users: Select certain individuals by searching names or mobile numbers.
      2. Set to specific industry type: Choose a specific trade from the list.
      3. Set to a specific visitor type: Indicate if this announcement is only applicable to Employees, Subcontractors, or Visitor type check-ins. Note: this list may be customised depending on your organisation's configuration settings.
  8. Click "Submit" when you're done.

Web Portal Steps 💻

Using the 1Breadcrumb web portal, the Announcement tool empowers you to generate multiple Announcements, allowing you to disseminate information within your company or to specific sites, as required. You can choose to deliver these Announcements either through a pop-up notification when users check into a site using the 1Breadcrumb app or by attaching them to your Induction materials, as needed.

  1. Navigate to the 'Editor' tool located on the left-hand toolbar of your 1Breadcrumb portal.
  2. Select ‘Announcements’ from the dropdown menu.
  3. In the top section of the new window that appears, enter the following details to create a new Announcement:

    1. Type:
      1. PDF File - Upload a PDF format to communicate your announcement.
      2. Video - Upload a video for recipients to watch.
      3. Text - Create your own announcement by typing your desired information.
      4. Audio -  Upload a voice recording for recipients to listen to.

    3. Data/Link: Upon selecting the 'Type,' this field will adapt to the right way to add your Announcement. For example, if you choose 'PDF File,' 'Video,' 'Image,' or 'Audio,' it will change to allow you to choose and upload the file from your computer. If you select 'YouTube' or 'External Link,' it will give you a place to paste the web link of the content you want to share. If you opt for 'Text,' you'll get a field where you can type the message you want to share as an announcement.
    4. Display Mode: Decide using the ‘Display Mode’ dropdown list if you want the announcement to be available to recipients prior to checking into site by selecting from the following options:
      1. Anytime: Recipients will be able to receive the announcement both before they have checked into site and when they’re checked into site.
      2. Check-in: Recipients will be able to receive the announcement only when they have checked into site.
      3. PreCheckIn: Recipients will be able to receive the announcement before they check into site.
    5. Group Name: Choose or create a category (e.g., toolbox talk, policy). Establish a grouping name for the announcement will be beneficial in the future when you wish to filter and access the list of acknowledged Announcements.
    6. ‘Is Active?’ toggle: Turn the toggle ON if this announcement is live for sites to apply to their projects as needed.
  4. Click the orange "Add New Announcement" button when you're done.

🎉 Congratulations! Your Announcement has now been generated and will be available in to the Announcements Register below. It can now be assigned to a specific site or incorporated into induction materials as needed 🎉

Requirements ❗

Only Company Hosts and Site Hosts with Announcement permissions can create an Announcements. If you do not have the permissions to create an Announcement, please reach out to your Company or Site Hosts.
