How Does Breadcrumb Use My Location?

Note: Location services are not available for UK/I customers.

How does it work.

When you enter and exit a project, the phone app performs a series of checks (using it's own internal sensors, WiFi signals, GPS signals and local reception towers) to determine if it should complete a check in or check out.

After the phone has completed the checks, it sends a brief message with the date and time to our servers confirming that you are checked in.

This is the only time your phone's location is used, and it is the location the phone believes it was at when it considered you to be at that moment in time. See more on a phone's location accuracy below.

Location services.

Enabling location services all the time will allow your phone app to recognise when it enters or exits a project with a geofence.

If you prefer to not allow location services all the time, this could impact the app's reliability to perform as expected. The range of sensors and ability to detect the phone's movement in or out geofenced sites has been removed.

Battery concerns.

Minimal battery is required for the Breadcrumb app to operate in the background. Old, damaged or cheap phones can affect battery life and functionality due to the low quality components or older tech.

Apple introduced sending periodic reminders as one of their privacy features.

iOS users will receive the reminder notification that some of their apps use location services in the background.
